Resources You Need to Improve Your Mental Toughness

I’ve written a lot about how any permanent improvement in your fitness begins with changing your mind. Today , I’m going to share some of the resources I read everyday to help me improve my thinking and mindset.

1.Steve Siebold’s Mental Toughness Blog. I reviewed Steve’s book a while back, and his audio blog is just as good. Every post clearly teaches a lesson, often relating it to current events. It’s your opportunity to sit at a master’s feet (for free!) and absorb.

It’s how I imagine it would have been to study with a great teacher like Aristotle.

Kirstie Alley - Fat Loss Expert?

Newsweek.com reported that actress and former Jennie Craig spokesperson Kirstie Alley is developing her own weight loss brand. You can read the article here.

Her reasoning? According to the article “… while her experience with Jenny Craig was “extraordinary,” she wants “to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride.”

First, let’s make sure we’re focused on losing the right thing. If you want to permanently change your body, build muscle and lose fat. Stop worrying about what the scale says. By itself, that number is not enough information. Improvement in your body composition is what you want.

Is your nutrition stressing you out?

Any mental or physical strain on by your body is stress. Some stress, like exercise, produces a benefit and can be considered positive. Negative stress, on the other hand, produces no benefit. Negative stress is caused by psychological, environmental and nutritional factors.

In his book The Thrive Diet, Brendan Brazier estimates as much as 60% of the average North American’s stress is negative. And of that approximately 70% is the result of poor nutrition.

Release Your Results

You have imprisoned your results. You may not even be aware of it. But the way you think about exercise and nutrition and really everything else in your life determines the actions you take. And the actions you take determine the results you get.

For example, did you ever look at a guy who was in excellent shape and think to yourself “He has great genetics. He’s lucky.” Or ladies did you ever look at another lady who is in excellent shape and think “She’s so lucky. She can eat anything she wants and never gain weight.”

Can You Improve Self Respect Through Fitness?

Today, I received two E-mails carrying the same message. First Ryan Lee wrote about momentum. He compared the role of momentum in the presidential primaries with the momentum you and I need to get started on the path to our goals.

Ryan wrote “…Once you follow a blueprint and start to taste success, momentum will carry you forward.”

Not two minutes later I read an E-mail from Matt Furey. Matt is a plain spoken man. And his message was about “America the Obese-ful.”

Now, before you get offended, absorb the message he’s sending. Matt writes, “The basic issue underlying fatness is bad thinking followed by bad habits (my emphasis).”
